Who we are

What we collect, and why

• Your email address, if you sign up for the weekly note. We use it to send that note and nothing else. The basis is your consent: you gave the address for that purpose, and you can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in any note or by emailing us. The address is held by our email provider, which sends the note on our behalf.
• Your order details, once checkout opens. Checkout runs on Shopify, so your name, delivery address, email and payment go to Shopify under its privacy policy; we never see your card number. We use your order details to fulfil the order, answer questions about it and keep the records a trader must keep. The basis is the contract you make when you buy, and our legal obligations.
• What you look at here, kept on your own device. The shop remembers, in your browser only, which ranges you walked into, which products you opened, what you searched for and when you last visited, so that next time it can show you what is new since then. It is on by default. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, we cannot see it, and "Forget me" at the foot of any page clears it and switches it off. Your basket and a few small conveniences are kept the same way.
• Nothing else. We set no analytics or advertising cookies of our own. Our host, Render, keeps ordinary server logs (IP address, pages requested) for a short time to run the site. Shopify's checkout sets the cookies it needs to work.

Who else sees it

• our email provider, which holds the sign-up list and sends the note.
• The supplier who packs and posts an order receives your name and delivery address, and nothing more, so the parcel can reach you. Some of our suppliers are outside the UK; the delivery address goes where the parcel goes.
• Shopify and the payment providers it uses, for checkout and payment.
• Nobody else. We do not sell, rent or swap your details.

How long we keep it

A sign-up address until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it. Order records for six years after the order, which is what tax law asks of us.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to our using it, or withdraw consent you have given. Email pbakerkernow@gmail.com and we will answer within a month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your details you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If what we do changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves.
